Joondalup MP urges community to act now with flu vaccinations

10 May 2021

Emily Hamilton MLA, Member for Joondalup and Wizard Pharmacy Joondalup owner and Pharmacist Frank Napoli, are encouraging the community to get their flu vaccination out of the way ahead of the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out.

Mr Napoli said the two vaccines must be taken at least two weeks apart.

“It is essential that we get as many eligible members of our community vaccinated against the flu now so they can get their COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as they become available.

While 2020 was an incredibly unique year for flu with low cases recorded due to extensive COVID-19 precautions, flu numbers are expected to increase again in 2021.

Latest data from the Australian Immunisation Register showed flu vaccination uptake this year is at less than 40% compared with the same time last year,” said Mr Napoli.

After receiving her flu vaccination last week, Ms Hamilton encourages everyone to take action and get vaccinated against the influenza virus to protect themselves, their loved ones, and our community.

“Thanks to the friendly team at Wizard Pharmacy Joondalup Central,” said Ms Hamilton.
