  • $20,000 funding boost to support victims of domestic violence leaving refuges

A re-elected McGowan Government will deliver $20,000 to Joondalup’s Patricia Giles Centre for Non Violence to provide support packages for women leaving refuges.

The Patricia Giles Centre for Non Violence does important work in the Joondalup community supporting vulnerable women and children fleeing family violence.

As part of the help they give to get people’s lives back on track, the Centre provides support packs to vulnerable people.

The kits provide basic household items for clients to make a new start when exiting a refuge and entering new accommodation.

This funding will enable the centre to replenish its supply and continue providing this important service.

Comments by Emily Hamilton MLA, Member for Joondalup:

“A safe home is something that many of us take for granted. As the local member, I know how important the work of the Patricia Giles Centre for Non Violence is for our community.

“The sense of comfort experienced by recipients knowing that their basic household needs are covered is immeasurable, during a time when they are facing enormous challenges.

“I’m very pleased that a re-elected McGowan Labor Government will provide support so the centre can continue making a difference in our community.”
