Emily Hamilton, Member for Joondalup, hosted a Cancer Council WA Biggest Morning Tea for the sixth consecutive year, raising funds for vital cancer research, support services, prevention programs, and advocacy.

Each year, attendee numbers at Ms Hamilton’s event have grown. This year the venue was Joondalup Sports Club at HBF Arena.

Almost one hundred locals attended the event from the surrounding area, community groups and local businesses, each paying $5 for tasty treats. Other community members donated online.

Attendees won numerous, sought-after raffle prizes and silent auction items that were generously donated by local businesses and community members.

Ms Hamilton said that as Cancer Council WA is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation, its survival and effectiveness is totally reliant on community donations.

Funds raised go towards practical and financial support for West Australians affected by this disease, as well as cancer education, research and prevention.
